Few years ago I made a slideshow video of my holiday photos and used sample music provided with iPhoto called "Acoustic Sunrise" as background music. I uploaded the video to YouTube and today I received an email from YouTube saying that the video may have content that is owned or licensed by GoDigital Media Group. The email also instructed me to visit the Content ID Matches section of my account for more information. Doing so informed me that the claim is on audio content of the video, that is "Acoustic Sunrise" background music.

I take copyright violations seriously. When making that video I assumed that the sample music in iPhoto is provided for use as background music in slideshows and that I have license to use the music that way. However, I have not been able to find a specific license and therefore I would like to know if I have permission to use "Acoustic Sunrise" as a backgound music on slideshow and then upload the video of the presentation to a public web site like YouTube. I also would like to inform you that GoDigital Media Group has made the above claim on "Acoustic Sunrise" and would like to know if they are misappropriating copyright on "Acoustic Sunrise".

This video uses the copyrighted material at issue, but with the appropriate authorization from the copyright owner.

En yleensä puhu politiikasta tai uskonnosta, joten en ole niistä esittänyt mielipiteitä tässä blogissa. Tällä kertaa teen poikkeuksen, koska makaan sängyssä iPodini kanssa ja haluan kommentoida lukemaani tweetiä eikä kommentti mahdu 140 merkkiin.

Kyseinen tweet oli Janne Jalkaselta ja se kuului seuraavasti:"Yowsa! Looks like Finland is now seriously heading to replacing the prime minister, and possibly a new election as well. Corruption #fail." (Ensimmäinen ja toivottavasti viimeinen kerta, kun käytän cut&pastea iPod Touchissa. Elämäni tuskallisimpia kokemuksia. Okei, ehkä liioittelen jonkin verran. ;) Se sai minut miettimään, miten Vanhasen olisi voinut välttää eron. Tämä olisi tietenkin se, että Vanhanen myöntää virheensä, vaatii asian perinpohjaista selvittämistä ja lähtee ajamaan vaalirahalakia. Toki voi olla, että verikoirat ovat päässeet irti eikä niille kelpaa kuin pääministerin ero (ja uudet vaalit), mutta miksi ei edes kokeiltu toista vaihtoehtoa? Onko niin, että tuo lähestymistapa johtaisi vielä pahempien luunrankojen esiintuloon? Pääministerin ero ja uudet vaalit ovat näppärä tapa viedä huomio pääasiasta eli vaalirahoituksen ongelmista. Seuraavissa vaaleissa ei kukaan ehkä kehtaa harrastaa yhtä härskejä temppuja, mutta toisaalta, miksi ei? Tuohan on nyt vanha uutinen, joten tuskin media enää jaksaa lähteä sitä penkomaan.

Yksinkertaisin selitys lienee kuitenkin vain epäpätevyys. Asioiden kiistäminen oli luonnolinen lähestymistapa ja siinä vaiheessa kun paljastui, että se ei toimi, ainoat vaihtoehdot olivat jatkaa valitulla tiellä tai erota. Luultavasti myös vaatimus pääministerin erosta tuli yllätyksenä. En tiedä millaista poliittista peliä kulisseissa on käyty, mutta on aika selvää, että Kokoomus on ollut iso peluri. Ehkä se näki vaalirahakohun keinona nousta suurimmaksi puolueeksi. Onhan sen kannatus kaiketi ollut nousussa. Asia pelattiin taitavasti. Vaatimuksen esittää varapuheenjohtaja, joka on tarpeeksi keskeinen tuodakseen esille puolueen näkemyksiä, mutta voi kakkosmiehenä esittää virallisesta kannasta poikkeavia mielipiteitä. Kokoomus luottanee siihen, että virallisesti poliittisesti sitoutumaton Helsingin Sanomat ei rupea selvittelemään heidän vaalieahoitussotkujaan. Kuuluuhan se samaan suomalaisen elinkeinoelämän vaikuttajien joukkoon kuin Kokoomuksen tukijatkin.
